“Restiamo a casa!” |
Fatti contagiare dal virus dell'arte
The projectIn the days of the coronavirus quarantine, forced to live in our homes, without social life, we all create something positive, which can come out of such a dramatic event: the images, the paintings, the photographs, the drawings, the sculptures , the thoughts, the poems, the stories about the coronavirus through the eyes and sensitivity of artists from all over the world, starting from the participants of the 2020 edition of the Biennial of Contemporary Art in Salerno. The works and the catalog of the same will then be presented in a special exhibition, sponsored by the artistic direction of the Biennale itself, through the format "Quarantined Artists", a trademark registered and created in previous editions. What artists think, how they live, how they interpret this emergency. Is this a natural event, a fact due to chance, a human error or something else? Everyone's life is suspended, conditioned, firm, waiting to regain the pleasure of a normality and a sociability that - right in the time of the "social" - suddenly seem so far away, vanished among the memories of each of us. "We stay at home!" Let's not embrace, don't shake hands, "keep our distance". It is right, because it is now the only way to stop Covid 19. We therefore spend our time at home to create something good. A "document" that can represent this particular moment and that freezes the memory of what happened over time, so that other disasters of this kind can be avoided in the future. A social awareness campaign to convey a message and keep alive the memory of a tragedy, which involved the whole world and, not least, not to forget all those who have not made it. Salerno in Arte and the Biennale have always stood out thanks to their natural aptitude for following social issues and, once again, they do not shirk and confirm their determination to express the strong voice of art. The emergency can and must also be a source of careful reflection. All the works created, accompanied by a prestigious catalog - after an exhibition program, which will be planned according to government regulations, once they have emerged from the emergency - can be donated by the artists for auctioning and the proceeds will be donated through the institutions, to a hospital that will be indicated to us, to support the research. The format is designed and fully funded by the Fourth Edition of the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Salerno.
